The Hold Steady Almost Killed Me......this is the title of my current favorite band's first record. I couldn't have said it better myself....after hearing the best rock record in years...I'm talkin' YEARS MAN! I am new to this blog stuff and I'll most likely be just sharing this with friends and family, but if just one person listens to this band and "gets it", than it will be worth all the time spent at the computer typing this shit. They followed up that record with Seperation Sunday, an almost "concept album" that has reoccurring characters and themes. Truly all about Sex Drugs, and Rock N Roll. They hail from Brooklyn by way of Minneapolis, and their songs reflect the time spent in the Twin Cities. That album was most recently followed up by Boys and Girls in America. It seems this one has gotten them more mainstream attention, but for me it's the weakest of the three records....of course weak is a strong word for a record that gets a ton of play on my stereo. I love it, but it's just not quite as good as the first and second one's. They are in the studio now recording their next effort, and I cannot wait to see what they come up with. For me, they are the Future of Rock N Roll as I see it, and since this is my blog, than it must be true!! It's pretty great finding a band that makes me believe in Rock again. Don't get me wront, I'll always be a fan of cry in your beer country (and not that shit they play on the radio either...don't get me started on the Toby Keith's of the world), but this shit rocks my ass off and I'm loving every minute of it.
